The old Bean Bar had wonderful food and atmosphere. It has been stripped of all warmth, it’s loud, overly bright and just bad. The food was dry and had no flavour. It’s hard to ruin a quesadilla and a steak but they managed to kill both. There were only 3 tables of guests and the waitress couldn’t remember the orders when getting the bill. Stay away.
Margarita was really small but very strong. Nachos were really bad, there was no protein on the nachos and they were pretty stale, way too many olives, and lack of cheese(got horrible cramps and chest pains after). Our server was really nice and accommodating, she was great. It was just the food that was terrible. It was also completely empty in there. Only one bathroom not accessible to wheel chair users, it was a few flights of stairs into the basement and only one bathroom.
The owner (I think) is such a sweet woman! She is always here when I come. The food, drinks, and vibes are amazing. Very reasonably priced too!!! Super underrated
I wish I could say this place had potential, but our experience was a total letdown from start to finish. We ordered the nachos expecting a loaded plate of cheesy goodness with all the toppings promised on the menu—specifically, those beef crumbles that are supposed to make it hearty and satisfying. Nope. They were nowhere to be found. Just sad, bare chips drowning in subpar cheese sauce with some limp veggies thrown on top. We tried the cappuccino. What a joke. It tasted exactly like watered-down diner coffee mixed with generic cream—no froth, no richness, just bitter regret in a mug. And the prices? Highway robbery. Skip this spot unless you enjoy overpaying for mediocrity.
The food is terrible. To be fair we only had nachos and bruschetta. The bruschetta is served on multi grain bread with the most pesto I've ever seen and lightly sprinkled with tomatoes and a hint of goat cheese. The nachos were equally bad.
We had a wonderful lunch at the Bean Bar today. Devin was very attentive, and made amazing coffee drinks! Our food was very good, without exception, and it was nice to see a clearly designated vegan option on the menu. Of course, I am always happy to see more than one option but the wrap was very good. Happy to have returned to the Bean Bar after many years since our last visit. We plan to be back sooner!
What a find! Never heard of it, was going with friends for lunch to a totally different venue near McMaster, which fortunately for us was booked for a private event. Great atmosphere, wonderful service, food was exceptionally delicious. Seems like a great local place to just hang out. Needless to say, will definitely go back when we do another drive to Hamilton.
