Service 11/10 did not have to call my server once he was on the money everytime. Steak…. To perfection….. girlfriend got lamb. To die for. Not to mention the tar tar and the best scallops I’ve ever had. I’m usually trying to find something negative or room for improvement but I literally cannot
Overall, a fantastic experience. The service and atmosphere deserve five stars. Particularly noteworthy were the strawberry butter bread served with the bread and the Brussels sprouts as accompaniment. These were small touches, but made a big difference. The ribeye and octopus were of high quality, so the flavor was predictable. The only area for improvement, some parts of the steak and octopus tentacles were overcooked and tasted bitter. However, these minor flaws don't detract from the overall experience. This is my second time visit this restaurant. Next time, I'll try the seafood.
Classy, Family run Restaurant in downtown Hamilton. Walking distance from the Superior Court building. Very good service, and the food was amazing. Everything we had was flavourful, and well cooked. The hostesses at the front were welcoming, and got us to a table quickly. Highly recommended.
Fabulous meal at Conversate yesterday! The starters and steaks were perfection and the atmosphere and service were both amazing. Thanks so much for a wonderful birthday dinner. We'll definitely be back!
My wife and I were in Hamilton on a Tuesday and decided to have dinner. Looking up on maps I found this steak and seafood restaurant close by. As we walked up to the entrance I was immediately taken by the wonderful wall after glass spanning two floors and the entire width of the dining room. Entering, we were greeted with a friendly hostess and quickly seated at a lovely table. Right away I noticed the comfortable chairs. As we began to get comfortable Shauna our server came and introduced her self. She patiently described and suggested different types of cocktails to my wife and then promptly returned with our beverages. At that point she assisted us in getting to know our menu choices and features of the evening. That was quite helpful in ordering our first course. After a short while, out comes our order. The seared scallops and their octopus were our first choice and let me tell you they did not disappoint. Cooked to perfection! After taking our time savoring our starters Shauna returned filling our glasses of water and without any sort of urgency asked if we would like to order or take some time. That was wonderful to not feel rushed since we had two hours to kill. We then placed our second course order. A 16 Oz Riley, dry aged and a seafood tagliatelle. We informed Shauna that we will be sharing the two dishes. Without hesitation she returned with fresh cutlery and plates so we could share. When our order arrived we could immediately see and smell the al minute cooking of our dinner. As Shauna placed our meal down we noticed that the chef had also included serving tongs along side our dishes for service. Nice thoughtful touch. Well let me tell you how impressed we were with the quality and professionalism that went in preparation of our meal. Steak was cooked perfect. We ordered espresso which came with a home made cookie. Nice way to end the meal. As we paid the bill and began to leave we were fortunate to meet the owners. Such nice people. Definitely a five star experience. We will be returning here to share our experience with family and friends.
Service and atmosphere were excellent. The Beef Wellington was juicy and tender, with a mushroom layer full of umami. The only downside was the bread—it was a bit too chunky, not crisp enough, and thicker than ideal. The oysters were below average in freshness, likely because they’re out of season and due to our inland location. The Wagyu burger patty was on the salty side. I’m a heavy taster, so I still enjoyed it, but it may be too salty for some. I didn’t try their steak, but based on the quality of the Beef Wellington, it’s clear they use good cuts of beef. If you’re a steak lover, it’s definitely worth a try.
Terrible experience. Table was near air conditioning vents that blew cold air on us. Table butted against the bar that is used for events. No atmosphere upstairs compared to ground floor level. Octopus dish hummus was overpowering and salty. Beet salad was tasty. Meat sampler was Overcooked. Ordered med -rare. Pieces were well done or med at best. As they were taking advantage of an influx in town for Paul McCartney concert, the experience paid the price. Couple at the next table also had over cooked steak. As a steak and seafood restaurant, you should get that right. The waitress was great and none of it was her fault. The manager did apologize and compensate our bill at approx 50% but I would rather have had great food. I am not an out of town guest who will never return but a local who will never return and will share this experience.
