I have mindfully given 2 stars to this restaurant. Steak was tasteless and cold. Sausages were dry. Portion size on each dish was considerably small. Additionally, they charged $6 pp for the cake we cut for birthday event, in spite of asking them beforehand and getting their alignment on no-charge. They also forgot to deduct the reservation fees they had charged. Too much money paid for a very mediocre service and food. Never going there again.
Our first visit last night was an outstanding experience in every way. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the cellar space is beautifully decorated, with intimate lighting and live music. Our server was lovely. Attentive without being overwhelming. We ordered the venison sausage and cauliflower fritter apps - both were delicious and beautifully presented. For our mains we shared the steak frites et fromage and the signature chicharron. Again, beautifully presented, flavourful and plentiful - we were delightfully satisfied, unable to eat another bite... then, as it was our anniversary, our charming server presented us with a complimentary dessert. We were overwhelmed by this generous and thoughtful (and extremely yummy) gift. Needless to say, we WILL be back. Very much looking forward to our next visit - highly recommended!
Hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to! They accommodated our large group with no notice and our server Erica was awesome! She’s great with recommending the best things (the wild game pie was phenomenal). Thank you so much Erica, the chef, and all of the staff that made our evening possible! After we left one of the staff even ran 2 blocks to find us because my colleague forgot her sunglasses, it was so sweet of her. I will most definitely return!
Entrance from the street makes you think that you are going to be on street level but head on downstairs! Great atmosphere and cosy decor. Definitely an eclectic menu with lots of interesting European influences on other cuisine. The winners at our table were the wild game pie ( delicious), burger and watermelon feta salad.
It wasn’t terrible but not what I was hoping for. Service was friendly but disappointing for a high end restaurant. First time at this restaurant as I booked for my wedding anniversary (which they forgot about until I brought it up despite letting them know at the time of reserving). I figured for the price we’d get some overview of the menu, but instead the waiter just kept coming up to us asking “ready to order??” Cocktails were okay but nothing special. Our appetizers were delivered late and then our main courses arrived early. The food was pretty good but we weren’t blown away by our mains (but the ceviche appetizer was delicious). Waiter was not super attentive throughout the evening (though I’ll note the other waiter at the table next to us seemed great!). These are all minor nitpicks, and we didn’t have a “bad” experience by any means, but for the prices on the menu I had expected a lot more. I’ve had better dining experiences for significantly less money in Hamilton.
This is a cool place with a laid back vibe, friendly service, and outstanding food. The cauliflower fritters and aioli were a great start, followed by a flavourful venison burger and frites. The smoked cornish game hen was also excellent. The milohas cake for dessert was a perfect finish to our meal. Highly recommended.?
