During my visit to Sport Chek, my friend politely asked an employee a question about a sale. Instead of helping, the employee—an older bald man who was not wearing a uniform—responded very rudely by saying, “What is written there?” It made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome as customers.
I walked into this location expecting basic customer service — instead, I got attitude, hostility, and complete disregard. The store was dead quiet. Two employees stood off in the distance staring at me but doing nothing. When I asked a woman coming out from the back for help, she hissed “no” and disappeared without another word. A man suddenly rushed forward, snapped “I’m right here,” and acted like I was a problem for even asking. It felt bizarre — like no one wanted customers there at all. I still tried to give the place a chance. Found a great pair of Under Armour shoes — but the moment I got to the till, the energy dropped even lower. The cashier was cold, rushed, and rude, firing off lines about policy as if she couldn’t wait to be rid of me. When I paid ($100.60 for a $75.55 total), she froze in disbelief, grabbed her phone, and started fumbling with what looked like her calculator app in panic. The whole thing felt surreal — untrained staff, zero professionalism, zero care. I walked out not just disappointed but disturbed. The atmosphere in that store is apathetic, hostile, and completely unwelcoming. Sport Chek should be embarrassed. This location doesn’t just need retraining — it needs a complete management wake-up call.
Used to love this location because it was close to home. I have purchased my Raptors & Blue Jays jerseys there and more. You just lost me as a customer. Came in after a pickup game of Basketball. Asked where the basketball’s were and told “in the back”…Buddy was just not engaged at all and made me feel like a burden. The store is dead lol, like come on. How about “hey what’s up man! What you looking for? Oh basketball let me show you…looking for indoor or outdoor?” Then wanted to buy a few pairs of basketball shoes for myself and my buddy who I lost to on the court. Lost to my friend and The loser owed the other a pair of shoes. Unfortunately, after the lack of service. Giving me the shoes to try on and then retreating to the back…then hearing laughing and whatever. I told the girl, I am not interested. Her response “cool”. I was ready to spend $500+ on shoes. Won’t be returning. Good luck. Again, I used to love this location.
This Sport check location I find is the best location in the area. The employees seem very knowledgeable in the products and seem genuinely interested in your needs. I have been very happy with my purchases and the prices are very reasonable. They get a five star because of a certain gentleman that helped me with learning more about extra rewards and products I've purchased that I would not have known without is help??
Traveled here to buy a specific shoe size that was in-stock according to the website. Arrived and it wasn't there. A day later, the online inventory is still showing in-stock... what's the point.
At first, I did not receive my order. It seemed that the employee was inexperienced or did not want to help! Then another friendly and helpful employee came and got what I wanted from the store. Please select your employees carefully.
Fitbit was defective, and went to the Limeridge store, and the lady there was very unhelpful, luckily I went to the one are Eastgate and the lady there helped me immediately, great service.
