I purchased my Quaker from them under the previous owner and I was very happy the new owners are even more amazing. I just had them look after my Quaker Parker and they groomed him cleaned his cage cut his nails trimmed his beak I got him back he was happy and not stressed out. They looked after him for a week and they were very reasonable and they have so much knowledge. I have to say from the moment I walked in to the momentI left they were amazing and all the staff were friendly and they even gave Parker a new toy I just noticed it was new so thank you to them for that. When you have a pet leaving them is such a stressful thing but these fine people made it painless and I knew Parker was in the best hands I could arrange. Highly recommend this place.
I just pick up $50.00 worth of food ,butter chicken was made whit tomatoes sauce ,tones of sugar instead cream they put tones of sugar ,6 pieces of 1 inch x 1 inch of chicken, same whit lam pieces and to top it of got long black and grey hair in my butter chicken dish ! Do not recommend to nobody ! Higiene non existing ! Bad bad place
To the person who is bashing this pet store for the way they sell rats, your review is based on opinion, not fact. I have recently taken home a rat from this store and have nothing but good things to say about my rat. He is the absolute sweetest pet I’ve ever had. To say these rats are not pet worthy is simply an assumption, and to add to that: even rats that come from supposed “breeders” are liable to being skittish and having poor temperaments. Any rat that is well socialized and living in proper conditions can be a great pet, and THAT is a fact.
Decent prices, very knowledgeable staff and owner. Lots of really cool animals there, make sure you have time on ypour hands cause you'll want to look around
Editing to add: changing my review from originally a 5 start then to a 4 star now to 1 star. I went in at noon and none of the birds had food and their water looked like it hadn't been changed in days. I left the store feeling stressed out and sad for all of the animals. Edited to add: I changed my review from a 5 star to a 4 star because I went in on the weekend to buy a Meyers parrot (I brought a cage with me because I was sure I was going to get her) and the owner was off and the staff member working had no idea what he was talking about and couldn't give me any information on the Meyers. He couldn't even figure out which of the two was the friendly one so I took it upon myself and asked if I could open the cage, he said yes but then came up and closed the cage a few minutes later because the rainbow Lori was trying to get in. So I got the rainbow Lori back in its cage and opened the Meyers cage again but then he came up and shut it again. I left empty handed and upset. I also peaked into a couple of the bird cages and the water was dirty and grimy with multiple dead bugs in them. I feel like the staff needs better training, and perhaps more staff to help clean the cages. If you attend while Chris the owner is their on a weekday I'm sure your experience will be better.
Urban Zoo is the best run pet store in the city. The owner is very knowledgeable about all the animals he sells, they are very well cared for, and they have a good variety of very healthy pets. Highly recommend Urban Zoo! Chris Parkinson
Chris is so knowledgeable about all the animals he has in his shop and is happy to answer any questions you have about your own pet. My fiance and I had a question about his bird so we asked Chris and he was very helpful. It turns out, the bird just has an awful personality and there's not much we can do.
I walked in the door, it whole place smelled horrible. Very strong odor of urine and all.. hard to breathe. I was the only customer. No one greeted me as I walked in or around the shop.. but once I opened the door to leave he asks me if he can help me ...?? though they were standing just there.. there was a huge huge bunny there.. in a tiny cage, not much space to live in.. (poor thing) do not buy from this shop. It is smelly and dirty. They do not clean or take care of the animals.
We got a Beta here a few days ago and he's doing well. It was my partners first time here and think he was a little overwhelmed due to the small size and the stock (I was too the first time here). Have bought crickets here in the past when I've been in the area when I had my tarantula. Will be back when we're in the area. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Best place to purchase pets and pet supplies. Only the best products at a great price. Chris is extremely knowledgable and caring. If you go any were else you are making a mistake!
