Great prices and portions, delicious food, lovely staff. They really do went above and beyond to help with our order and were so friendly to deal with - awesome local business, very glad to have them in the neighbourhood!
This is the best place to get homestyle cooking, my cousins girlfriend always orders from here for her company and all the employees absolutely love it. She has even been kind enough to get me something every time she does orders for the company. You have to try the short ribs from this place. They are to die for, I was just informed that she had started orders again and everyone is excited to have Genki Ya Sushi catering again for them. I've actually been to this restaurant thanks to my cousins girlfriend high assurance of the food when Yan was in Burlington. I'm never going anywhere else after having food from Genki Ya Sushi, Yan and her husband won my stomach and me over after eating her food. Yan is the kindest lady ever, even though she had no idea who I was. Don't ever shut down the restaurant, there would be a lot of upset people at my cousins work.
I just ordered the Salmon Teriyaki Lunch Set with the Chia Latte, I can't wait to have the Curry Shrimp again. Thank you so much for letting us order again from your restaurant Yan. You guys are the best, please ask our Quality Assurance Manager to start bringing bigger bags ?️ or supply you with them so that the rest of the team can order again from you. We have missed your food so much, Kyle says sorry for ordering the sushi special that's not on the menu again. You guys are our hero's, we can't wait for lunch and dinner orders again from your restaurant. Came here for a birthday dinner. We enjoyed a few combos. Fish and rice were nice and fresh. They were very friendly and attentive. Really nice atmosphere with comfy chairs. Would definitely return.
I've gone to this restaurant 3 times in the past week. Twice for dine-in and once for pickup. Their menu is great and their food is fantastic. The setting is very cute and clean. So far I've tried the scallop and shrimp sashimi, agedashi tofu, takoyaki, teriyaki tofu, curry chicken Katsu don, tuna poke, and BBQ eel sushi. The sashimi weren't fantastic, but everything else was! The one thing this restaurant is missing is the complete lack of service. At first I gave the benefit of the doubt, but it unfortunately seems to be consistent for the dine-in experience. Walking in is incredibly awkward when the person behind the counter doesn't even look at you to say hello, so we had to ask if it was okay to sit down. It almost feels like they don't want you there? The only good experience service-wise was for takeout which was quick and easy. I get the vibe that the person who works the counter that is also the server, doesn't enjoy being a server. Unfortunate because that also seems to be the only server. Weird because I've seen a lot of good comments on service in previous reviews, so I wonder if it was just a bad week for that particular server? This spot would be 4.5 stars if they up their service game. I'll go again just for the food, but likely will only do takeout going forward. If service improves, I'll re-do this review but until then, a solid 3*. Update: I cannot deny how much I enjoy the food here. I've had nearly everything on the menu at this point. I've brought 4 other people with me individually and they have all had nothing but good feedback for the food! It's genuinely a really good restaurant and they care about the product they're putting out. The service has also gotten better. It's not amazing, but it's definitely not bad anymore. If they continue to work on their service skills this place is a strong 5/5.
Food was ok. Ordered through uber eats and all the photos were ai and therefore not accurate to what we ordered. Sushi picture and description didn’t show that the Alaskan roll had fish eggs. Udon soup didn’t show that the soup had eggs or really any of the toppings on it. Again food was ok but I would feel more comfortable if it was actually pictures of the food. Even poorly taken photos do more than a fake ai generated one.
I was happy with the food but my partner and I were both sick after. I thought maybe the kimchi was making me run to the bathroom because it's a probiotic but my husband didn't eat any and he was sick too. The pork bone broth I think was the culprit. Very yummy and better than ex-lax!
