We went to Martello’s for my birthday and the first wait staff that sat us was fine. However, our actual server was horrible. Her attitude immediately turned our jovial feeling to irritation. She rarely came to check on us and when she did, she took the glass of a member of my party even though she said she was not done. She then took the olive plate while the same party member had an olive in her mouth! My spouse asked if it would be possible to get another drink as our server passed our table and her response was, “what?” When the lager did make its way to our table, the glass was not full. That was enough for me. I would have given no tip whatsoever, but my spouse took care of the bill and while paying, our server stood over the POS machine and questioned if the service was alright because she saw her tip was 10%. It was only a few minutes later when we were told by another server that we had to leave because they had another party waiting for our table. So we hurriedly grabbed our things and left. My spouse also left a honest review about our experience and was told that the 90 minute time limit was noted on our reservation email. This is something that could have been brought up to us when we arrived or even when we were seated Horrible experience and will not be returning. Sometimes establishments and their staff forget that they are not only serving food, but also an experience and staff can ruin it quickly.
A favourite spot in the city for sure. Always a fresh take on classics with flavour that never disappoints. Only thing better than the food is the service. Always a pleasure! 5 across the board!
Came as a wedding guest and was so pleased. I like how the atmosphere was eclectic and warm but not dumpy. It was very clean and the food was excellent, far above my expectations for a plated wedding meal. The service was also fantastic, those bartenders never wavered and kept up really well, a couple of the servers were so congenial that it really added to the joy and festivities. Again, the food was so good, the end of night wood fired pizza, the veal ragu, everything was amazing!
Definitely a go to for special occasions. Everything is phenomenal here if you are into Italian food. I also like the melted candle concept. Plus, our waiter (I wanna say Filipino roots) with tattoos was so cute.
I came to this restaurant to celebrate my 40th birthday and although the food was good..the service was the worst I’ve experienced. The staff was rude, our dinner felt rushed and we’re told to move out of the way when guests were greeting each other by the female staff member. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating a special occasion. The staff need to check their attitudes at the door.
The food at this restaurant was fantastic — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can tell a lot of care goes into the kitchen, and it really shows in every dish. Unfortunately, the service was a completely different experience. The staff came across as rude and unprofessional, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable despite how much I enjoyed the food. It’s disappointing because the quality of the menu deserves better hospitality to match. If the service improved, this place could easily be a go-to favorite, but as it stands, it’s hard to recommend without hesitation. Very disappointed in the staff here!
We went in for drinks. We were seated quickly and our drink order was taken and water was brought to our table. That was unfortunately the last good part of our service. We were brought a round of drinks. At no point in the almost 1.5 hours we were there did anybody come back and ask if we needed more drinks or, better yet if we would like a menu or to order food. It smelled really good, but sadly we had our one round and that was it. I finally got tired of waiting for someone to come to the table so I went to the bar to pay for my drink. The bartender began to ring me up when the host came up and said he'd take care of it and directed me back to the table and was going to bring machines. It took him quite a while to return with the machines which was really annoying when the bartender had already almost had me completely done. I hate leaving bad reviews but this really was terrible service, which is really too bad because the space is cool, the music was good, the staff all looked like they were having a good time and the food smelled great. I think the worst part was that we weren't like seated far out of sight or something we were right near the bar and host station. They could see us and still never came over.
