We walked in and no one greeted or noticed us. It then took a while for us to get our waters (that were not refilled or even offered during the whole meal). The food was very good. I definitely recommend the spinach dip. We didn’t have one steady waitress and multiple would stop by but they all forgot their tasks and didn’t stick with what they told the customers. The table next to us couldn’t even get a refill for the whole 45 minutes we sat down, even though multiple servers were notified. My sauce was forgotten. We were told we would get a bag and it never came. We had to flag someone down for our check too. Good food but HORRIBLE service- coming from another server. Maybe it was just this night but other tables had obvious frustrations too.
Stopped in for a quick beer and ended up staying for a couple of drinks and an amazing afternoon! The bartender was incredible- so friendly and engaging, and made me feel right at home by bringing me know conversations with other patrons. What started as a quick stop turned into a memorable experience. Thank you Lisa for great service and welcoming atmosphere.
Food was amazing. Service was a bit slow because the one server then had a wedding party that she had to serve. They knew about this as they had a reservation. The bartender stepped on where she could. They should have had someone else come in to work especially knowing this group was coming in. We were ready to order dessert but time was ticking away. It took almost 25 minutes to get our bill. We were off to a show at 8pm , luckily we had budgeted a lot of time. Besides this delay in our bill the food was amazing, the staff were friendly and prices were reasonable. Cute little section of Hess Village.
Ate here twice in the four days we were in Hamilton. Very good fish & chips, as well as burgers and lots of other goodies! 2nd visit I had liver & onions, and it was excellent! The wait staff was accommodating without being intrusive. Prices were average, not extreme.
King George – A Scam Disguised as a Restaurant King George in Hess Village is one of the worst dining experiences I've ever encountered. The drinks are consistently watered down, and even worse, they regularly charge for drinks you never ordered — a shady practice that many other reviews also highlight. This isn’t a one-time mistake; it’s a pattern. The food is cold, poorly executed, and completely lacking any pride or attention. Every dish feels like an afterthought, thrown together without the slightest care for quality. The service is equally terrible, and the root cause is clear: management is a joke. Positions are clearly given to friends of the owner, not to qualified professionals. There is no leadership, no organization, and absolutely no accountability. Staff are left to stumble through a broken system, and customers pay the price. This restaurant is not just poorly run — it is actively taking advantage of guests through dishonest billing, subpar service, and low-effort food. This place should be investigated, not reviewed. Stay far away. There are dozens of better options in Hess that actually respect their customers.
King George pub isn’t just bad — it’s a full-blown embarrassment to the entire concept of hospitality. Every second spent inside that sad excuse for a restaurant feels like punishment for believing in basic human competence. The kitchen clearly has no chef — just a bunch of microwave jockeys slinging out freezer-burned garbage with all the finesse of a sledgehammer. The servers stumble around like they’re lost in their own building, as if taking an order and delivering it properly is some mythical art form they never learned. Waiting 40 minutes for a plate of soggy, lifeless food and a warm beer isn’t "service" — it’s customer abuse. Every plate they send out is a grim reminder that standards, pride, and even basic decency have left the building long ago. If mediocrity were a sport, King George would still be dead last. This place shouldn’t even have a license to operate, let alone charge people real money for the privilege of experiencing their staggering incompetence. In short: Food? Trash. Drinks? A joke. Service? Nonexistent. Atmosphere? Like waiting to get audited. Value? You'll pay for the privilege of disappointment. King George is not a restaurant. It's a warning far AWAY!!
I had Phoenix as my server and she wasn’t all up in your face and attended to me and the people around me very well ! Love the B-52 specialty coffees btw ! Definitely would recommend people to come here for a good time !
