Too many gtube and ntube surgeries. All the kids eventually get it once they go in. Count your self lucky if yours hasn't yet. All these kids with tubes really makes you question the whole thing.See it to believe it.
I recently had my son at McMaster, the Doctors and nurses were amazing specially in labour in delivery when I went in, there was one nurse that really helped a lot specially with my anxiety and Ill never forget the things she said to help me threw it! As soon as my son was born he had to go to the NICU, the nurses there expect for one were not as nice, once I got out of surgery I had to wait 8 hours before I was able to see him because I couldnt feel my legs yet, I didnt know what he looked like other than a picture my boyfriend took, when I went to see him they wouldnt let me hold him, because he was just handled , I was able to visit my son 24 hours, but they kept pushing me to leave, when ever I went to see him it was to feed him and I would always be in tears, the nurses would feed him without me, even though they knew I came every 3 hours and tell me I cant take him out to hold him because he has already been fed, there was no health issue that he couldnt be held, not impressed with the NICU at McMaster
The actual medical care (all tests required being done, proper referrals being made, etc) was great. The doctors are some of the best and brightest. You're child is definitely in good hands medically.. Problem is, none of it is done in a timely manner. Days pass between tests unnecessarily. Its a teaching hospital so there are many resident doctors on your team. I got the feeling there was just way too many doctors that information needed to get to before anything could be ordered and exictued. This made for what should have been a weeks stay, turn into s three week stay.
Had a bad experience in the ER with an incompetent nurse but she is not reflective of the amazing, hard working people that perform their duties with care and compassion that is unparalleled. In particular, the nurses in ward 3C go above and beyond everyday! Keep up the great work team, these little angels are lucky to have you!!!
My 9 month old baby just spent 5 days there. We had a great experience with ER doctors, pediatrics, infectious diseases, ENT, surgical and CT teams. Everyone we met went above and beyond to make sure we knew what was going on and to take care of my baby girl. Cant say enough good things about everyone who worked on her case!
