I had photos developed here from some old cameras and disposables. 2 rolls were emailed to me as scans which I had specifically asked for, and the others were handed to me as only negatives. For those that were only negatives, no print or photo was given to me at all. No explanation was given pre sale that explicitly explained that developing your photos means you do not actually get back any photos, which to me makes no sense at all. Not my experience with quite literally any other photo developer. It was also not cheap for what you get in return. The main phone line customer service representative was also particularly condescending and a bit rude. The lady that works on the developing team was quite nice however, and explained I could come in and get the photos printed for the difference they charge when you order (my reason for the extra star) - something the first man on the phone refused to offer. I do not recommend going here.
All I can say is poor customer service. They are too lazy to help their customers needs. They show some attitude and not willing to do their Job, I was at this store for the second time to print a canvas but unfortunately my experience was not expected as good. They don’t approach customers right as they enter the facility. They showing ignorance towards other people with colour, as he trying to help me “Ok Choose what you want” at the same time showing bad body language. Couldn’t even give any suggestions what customers preferences. One thing we brought the last receipt with the size of the canvas unfortunately all he can say is “I don’t know what are you talking about”.
Usually I have a good experience with bell arte, but I was very dissatisfied with the last roll of film I put in for development. The staff recommended I buy a prepaid roll to save myself on film costs. The total came to around 44-48 dollars for a 36 exp roll of Kodak 200. I submitted the roll on Tuesday June 25th, I was not informed the prepaid development only included either scanner OR prints which was very disappointing, but it was fine as my client only needed digital scans for their purposes. I received the the transfer on Thursday June 27th (which is a good turn around time) but when I opened up the wetranfer link, I was surprised to see the link was expired. There was no communication of why this occurred. I called the next day and asked what had happened to the transfer and was told there was an issue with the scans and they would need to be reprocessed. I expressed that I needed this photos ideally that day as I had told my client that I had received them. They politely informed me about the issue and said that I would shortly receive the transfer. I asked about a discount code of any sort of refund or future discount code for future use and was told that I could not receive one. Once received and the photos were reviewed, I was VERY disappointed to see these photos were over exposed and lacked the quality I usually find with their scans. I now have to spend time editing to fix these photos. Simply put, I am very disappointed with their service with this prepaid roll of film and will not be returning for any of their film services as I am now finding much cheaper and higher quality development services in Toronto. If bell arte would like to rectify this, they can offer me a refund or discount for future purchase. Their staff are very knowledgeable and friendly but I found they really dropped the ball on this one.
Edit: unfortunately my experience dropping off film wasn't very good. I admitted up front that I had likely ruined my first roll of film. I explained my thrifted camera got jammed and I had tried to go into the darkest room possible to unjam it but that I still may have ruined the roll. The person I was speaking to took on a pretty nasty tone to tell me how film is light sensitive (which I clearly knew), how I had probably ruined it, etc. I already felt bad about what had happened and there was no need to dig in further or be so condescending and rude. At the end of the day, I may have ruined my own film and they're still being paid for development so I'm not sure why he was so bent out of shape about it. Super kind staff, very knowledgeable and patient with questions. I really appreciated how genuinely enthusiastic they were to chat about cameras. The store also offer some great deals for film/processing.
Experts in the field but customer service is lacking in these 2 ways: no on line gift cards available and when I drove to the store to buy it it was closed (without notice) for the long weekend. Wasted effort. Easily remedied by offering on line gift certificates.
I went here for the first time today to get some film developed, the man helping me was very good and told me all aobut the process and was very helpful, I didnt catch his name. I am so excited to get my film back and see how it turned out. From a first timer going here I reconmend it for sure and I will be getting all my film done here in the future!
I took 2 rolls of 35mm film to get developed and wanted 2 sets of each roll as they were supposed to be gifts for the holidays. When I saw the prints I only had one set of one roll, 1/4 of what I ordered. When I called to follow up it seemed like I was being redirected to other people without being heard. I had to follow up 4 separate times and each time I had to re-explain the situation. I did end up getting one more set of the one roll on the 24th because I called to see if they were ready; they were but didn’t have my number so they didn’t tell me (even though I got a notification the first time). I didn’t get any pictures of the other roll because apparently it had no pictures on it. As someone who works in retail/customer service I am sympathetic to the busy times of the holidays, but I am extremely disappointed in the lack of responsibility and communication. No one seemed apologetic until I expressed that I was disappointed in the situation. It was a headache to get these developed and I will not come back or recommend this place to anyone
