I attended a work event at this venue with an open bar and was very disappointed. The bartender abruptly stopped serving guests under 30 years old for no apparent reason, while older guests continued to be served to excess. This double standard was frustrating and inappropriate. I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend attending events here if you’re under 30?
We had a work luncheon event here, close to 150 guests. The food was ok, but the food service staff were a little lacking in being organized. We had to approach them for butter/ rolls; and tables were extremely cluttered, no room for food platters. Tables sat 10, should have been 8. Very disorganized with clearing the tables, took far too long. Washrooms are a nuisance with being downstairs; NO automated entry doors. Also, it was snowy the night before and the parking lot was covered in ice. ?
Went there recently for a formal and the service and food were very bad. On top of being charged an absurd amount of money for the venue, the food was cheap and disgusting. The pasta was made with sauce from a can, chicken was so unseasoned and dry to the point of being inedible, vegetables were frozen, and dessert consisted of a Costco pack of Chudleighs apple blooms. When the food was brought out it wasn’t even played individually- everything was on a platter with a tiny portion for each person at a table. Considering this cost close to $100 per person, this is unacceptable. Many people including myself also got sick from the food the next day. Then, when it came to the actual set up, the owner/manager was very rude and refused to dim the lights a bit. Only when the music started playing were the lights dimmed. It was way too bright the whole time and unacceptable for a formal event. She claimed it was cause the servers needed the lights on for service, but they didn’t even plate our food… Even though the venue advertised themselves as having a useable speaker, there was nothing there. The whole night we had to use a portable speaker that was very poor quality, because the venue refused to provide us with anything. They should’ve clearly stated there was no speaker before we put our deposit down given that this was a formal dance. Overall, this is a very bad venue with disgusting, unseasoned food, and untimely service. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. DO NOT GO HERE.
We recently had the pleasure of enjoying this newly renovated hamilton gem. We couldn't say enough about the staff and how great they were. The food was simply the best banquet food we have had in a very long time. Would highly recommend attending or planning an event with Marquis Gardens 10/10
When we started planning for our wedding, we decided that we will focus on finding a venue that has good food and open bar service. Marquis Gardens exceeded our expectations by a mile. We are so pleased of how delectable the food and the consistency from the tasting gala to the wedding. Luisa, the manager, has done above and beyond to ensure everything is in order. We receive nothing but praise from our family and friends of how good the service was and everyone left with a full tummy. We ran a little late in our reception from the pictorial and the chef has placed a nice arrangement of hors d’oeuvres for me and my hubby. I never had any issue to deal with in the reception. It is truly amazing and worth every penny. For all the couples looking for a venue that has everything and has great food and service please hire Marquis Gardens in your next event, I surely will.
Took my 1000 dollar deposit during covid and claimed they weren't going to refund even though we couldn't have our wedding due to covid restrictions. Scammers. Then threatened with legal action. DO NOT BOOK ANY EVENTS HERE.
!!!!!PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE READ!!!!! If I could give their service a 0 and any negative below 0, I absolutely would. We are still dealing with trying to get our second payment back of $4000 SINCE AUGUST 2024. The Hamilton location and Albert have given the absolute worst service I've ever experienced. When we were in the process of venue hunting, Albert played the part well; complimented us, complimented my engagement ring, was friendly and kind. The moment we had to cancel, he was no longer kind or friendly towards us. My fiancé and I had originally signed a contract for a wedding date this year. Unfortunately due to unexpected circumstances, we had to pull out of the contract because we no longer could afford to pay the price of the venue and needed to do a smaller, more intimate wedding to fit our new, lower budget. We cancelled 13 months before our intended event date. Their own contract states "cancellations 12 months or more prior to the event will result in the loss of the initial or first deposit". We accepted we would lose our $3000 initial deposit but requested for our $4000 second payment to be returned through a formal cancellation notice on August 6th, 2024, exactly 13 months from our intended date. Albert said we would lose both deposits and we had to remind him what the contract stated to which he said he had to speak to the financing department (who was on vacation for 2 weeks and we only found out when we asked for an update the first time - I didn't know they only had one person for financing that was able to look into such things and definitely made things more frustrating). We had confirmed with Albert and Jordanna in seperate emails that the cancellation notice was received and that their team would be in touch. We've reached out to them multiple times since then with absolutely no updates and sometimes no response. My fiancé even called Albert after all our attempted e-mails for an update (that got ignored) to which all he said was "there's no update" and proceeded to hang up on him. We sent them another formal letter to give them until Friday January 24th to respond to us and give us our refund or provide documented evidence that our refund is being processed or we will take them to small claims court. They have not gotten back to us and we emailed Albert, Jordanna, sales and Debbie. We know they received the e-mails as my fiancé and I made sure to CC each other so we can confirm the e-mails have been delivered. We don't know if they're trying to call our bluff but we are so fed up with trying to get our money back for over half a year that we feel it's the only way. We have all the documented evidence to support that what I said above is true and if anyone would like to question it we would gladly share it and our experience because this is ridiculous and we should not be having to wait 7 months after we cancelled for an amount of $4000 when we had to cancel because we could no longer afford it. This is all just unneccessary stress and we wish that we were given back our money without all this hassle. It's such a difficult time with the economy and we know that $4000 can really help us right now that Marquis Gardens Hamilton is avoiding to give back even when their own contract states we only lose our first or initial deposit. Please please please, I'm sure when you go through with the process they are great, but if life happens and you need to cancel, be mindful that it is pulling teeth and that eventually they just stop responding. We just want this to be over and done with and hope that they have the decency and heart to do what's right.
